Most influential people that never lived

list begins here.

I think this list is crap. There are no doubts that there are some really cool people on the list (no Tyler Durden), but to say that HAL 9000 was influential is a bit absurd to me. What did said computer influence anyone to do or be?

Also, the Marlboro Man is on the top of the list and farther down the list is The American Cowboy. Isn't The Marlboro Man a American Cowboy?(grammar rules fail me here).

I think I would like to compose my own list of characters most influential to me.

in no particular order..

1. Bugs Bunny
2. Tyler Durden
3. Luke Skywalker
4. Mad Max
5. King Arthur
6.Robin Hood
7. Zorro
8. The Lone Ranger
9. The Six Million Dollar Man
10. The X-Men (collectively)
11. Spiderman
12. Puff the Magic Dragon
13. Batman
14. Superman
15. Siddhartha
16. James Bond
17. Peter Pan
18. Ninjas (specifically Snake Eyes of GI Joe)
19. Han Solo
20. Lestate the Vampire
21. Ripley from Alien
22. The Muppets (collectively)
23 Tristan from Legends of the Fall
24. Caine from Kung-fu
25. Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica
26. William Wallace
27. Bo & Luke Duke
28. Ishmael (Daniel Quinn)
29. Frodo
30. Homer Simpson
31. Calvin (and Hobbs)
32. Huey Freeman
33. Ayla (Clan of the Cavebear)
34. Sinbad
35. McGyver
36. Harry Potter
37. Eris
38. Icarus
39. Tank Girl
40. Buck (Call of the Wild)
41. Captain Nemo
42. Captain Piccard
43. Tender Branson (Survivor)
44. Captain Avatar (Star Blazers)
45. Brock Samson
46. Bernard Mickey Wrangle (Still Life w/ Woodpecker)

Didn't forget, didn't know.

Well, then I guess I'll just have to see Schizopolis for once.

you haven't seen it? i think i've seen it more than 10 times now. Elmo is by far the best part of the whole movie. i have long considered making an Elmo costume for burning man.

Best One liners of any character EVAR

"I can make sense out of yesterday. Can you understand the power of that? "

HAL totally influenced me. Whenever I'm having out with people named Dave, I start talking like him. "I don't think you should do that, Dave".

On the other hand, they seem to think G.I. Joe is a person, which is foolish. it's a brand name, even if the original doll was called Joe. And who the hell is Mammy? I thought that was just a generic term used for older black women in the culturally-insensitive forties.

Kabuki, Ayla, and Ripley are all women as well. Women that kick ass.

Tankgirl is probably the only one I find attractive, well Kabuki too but the list isn't that of which I find attractive. They are characters who I wanted to imulate in some way. I'm sure most men would find the characteristics of these girls influential in that none of them back-down from the hostile environment inwhich they find themselves.

I also don't think that many men are actually attracted to stupid and pathetic girls. There is a strong desire to protect women like this though, like you would feel the need to protect a child. However, if she was stupid with big tits then of course men will be powerfully drawn to her.
